Title:
VIDI 1-Day Symposium/Workshop
Begin:
12/14/2009 8:00 AM
End:
12/14/2009 5:00 PM
Description:
Please mark December 14, 2009 on your calendars for the next Vaccine and Infectious Disease Institute (VIDI) 1-day Symposium/Workshop on "The Immunological basis of vaccine efficacy". The goal of the workshop is to bring together scientists interested in the immunological foundations of vaccine efficacy. The stage will be set by an overview of our current understanding of the various aspects of vaccine efficacy from an epidemiological viewpoint. This will be followed by considering our understanding of the within-host dynamics of infections and immunity. We expect the discussion will focus on how to best develop an immunologically based framework for going from the vaccine induced dynamics of infection and memory in the host to mitigation of transmission on a population level.

This full day symposium is sponsored by the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Institute within the Hutchinson Center and will be held in Pelton Auditorium in the Weintraub building. A formal invitation and details on how to RSVP will be sent out in November.

Sincerely,

Ira M. Longini, Jr., Ph.D.
